Overview
The Assistant Sales Manager (ASM) will play a key role in expanding the distribution network and driving sales of Basmati and regional rice rice initially , with the scope to include other non-perishable products later. The role involves onboarding new distributors and suppliers, developing business relationships, and ensuring product availability across markets. The position requires extensive travel (approximately 90%) to build partnerships, explore new markets, and support distributors in achieving growth targets.
Responsibilities
- Identify, approach, and onboard new distributors and suppliers for Basmati and regional rice, with plans to include other non-perishable products.
- Develop and nurture relationships with distributors, retailers, and suppliers to expand the distribution footprint.
- Collaborate with procurement, logistics, and marketing teams to ensure seamless product supply and execution of sales plans.
- Execute sales strategies to meet and exceed growth targets in assigned territories.
- Provide support, training, and guidance to distributors to enhance their performance and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer demands to identify opportunities and risks.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing terms, and service agreements while maintaining compliance with company policies.
- Prepare and present sales reports, forecasts, and action plans to senior management.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards, pricing guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements & Skills
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or related field.
- Industry Experience: At least 5 years of experience in sales, distribution, or channel management, preferably in Rice, FMCG and staples, or agricultural commodities
Technical Expertise:
- Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
- Market Knowledge: In-depth understanding of global rice markets and trade practices.
Soft Skills:
- Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel internationally as required.
